C*Core Selects S2C's FPGA Prototyping Tools for Reference Design Delivery Nov 10, 2010

Significantly Shortens Development Time and Effort for Developing C*Core's 32-bit CPU Based SoCs

Shanghai, China – November 10, 2010 – S2C Inc., a leading rapid SoC prototyping solutions provider, announced that C*Core Technology, a leading 32-bit RISC CPU IP provider, has selected S2C's FPGA prototyping tools to build and deliver its CPU reference designs. The C*Core CPU reference design uses S2C’s fourth generation S4 TAI Logic Modules, which supports Altera’s largest Stratix-4 FPGA devices. Design teams can easily integrate a large number of IP blocks with C*Core CPU for designs of up to 30 million ASIC gates.

C*Core Technology’s 32-bit RISC processor family provides the industry's leading low-power high performance embedded processors. Over 40 notable customers have already licensed C*Core IP for various types of embedded applications resulting in the worldwide shipment of over 60 million SoCs with embedded C*Core 32-bit processors.

“A robust prototyping environment is one of the critical factors to enable design teams to shorten development times in deploying first-class products with C*Core processors," said Joe Xiao, President of C*Core Technology. “We have adopted S2C’s S4 TAI Logic Module as the FPGA platform for our CPU reference design because S2C is known for delivering high reliability products and has an excellent suite of tools to enable rapid SoC prototyping. S2C also has a reputation of providing excellent customer support.”

"We are just delighted to work with one of the top CPU IP providers in China," said Mon-Ren Chene, Chairman and CTO of S2C. “The new C*Core reference design on S2C TAI Logic Module will facilitate SoC teams to rapidly prototype its product concept, run comprehensive verification, and engage in software development early in design cycle. We sincerely look forward to a significant increase in adoption of C*Core CPU in various applications.” The S4 TAI Logic Modules are S2C’s latest generation SoC/ASIC prototyping hardware and can be equipped with one or two Altera Stratix-4 820E/530E FPGA devices to fit for ASIC/SoC designs up to 16.4 million ASIC gates on one board. Multiple S4 TAI Logic Modules can be easily stacked to accommodate larger designs.

The S4 TAI Logic Module has enhanced power management, noise shielding, and a cooling mechanism that facilitates high performance and high reliability system prototypes. The S4 TAI Logic Modules can run both DDR2 at 533Mbps and DDR3 at 800Mbps. Users can easily download FPGAs, generate programmable clocks, and self-test hardware from S2C’s TAI Player software via straightforward USB2.0 interface.
